Programme Overview Programme Overview

This three-day programme covers subjects including:  classroom theory in introduction and detail on various first-aid situations which might be encountered on-board.  There are also practical exercises on wounds, bandaging, spinal injuries, patient assessment and administering medication.

This course is delivered over 3 days.

Training Methodology

This is a classroom based course; they are highly interactive with role playing and practical exercises to reinforce understanding and learning.

Certification

On successful completion of this programme, the learner will receive a STCW Medical First-Aid onboard Certificate issued by BIM on behalf of the Department of Transport.

Entry Requirements

  • Must hold the STCW Elementary First Aid certificate
  • Photo ID must be provided prior to commencement of the course e.g. Driver’s licence or passport
  • Working in the seafood industry or public service.

Employment Opportunities

This course is mandatory for a learner to complete their Second-Hand Limited or Second-Hand Full Certificate of Competency.

Assessment

Written examination and practical assessment.
