Programme Overview This course aims to provide training for candidates in STCW Updated Training in Advanced Fire Fighting.
Seafarers designated to control fire-fighting operations on board a vessel shall complete updated advanced training in techniques for fighting fire, with particular emphasis on organisation, tactics and command.
Seafarers are required to demonstrate competence to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in table A-VI/3 of the STCW code.
Persons working in the seafood industry or public service who require updated training.

The course is delivered over 1 day
Classroom theory in fire awareness, firefighting, the control of firefighting teams, co-ordination of search and firefighting teams in practical exercises using breathing apparatus (BA)
On successful completion of the course the student is awarded a STCW Updated Training in Advanced Firefighting Certificate in accordance with Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code. The certificate is issued by BIM on behalf of the Department of Transport.
The student will complete a written exam.
